Voices from the Ground

Site-specific sound sculptures. Primitive Sense Festival. Somewhere in the mountains near Omachi, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, 2024.

A Site-specific project in which the textures, colours and sounds of the forest are interwoven with the voices of the festival’s past.

Concept

Listening quietly to the sounds of the forest, all the voices start to emerge. The wind, the water, the leaves, bringing in the echoes of the past, the present and the future. Listening quietly to the sounds of the forest, the reverberations of the primordial rise, again.

These site-specific sound and sculpture installations appear like vortices in the forest, where the voices from the ground emanate like a spring. Just like we stick a needle into the skin and a drop of blood comes out, with millions of cells, we find these vortices  in the earth with the sounds coming out, with millions of voices.
